休假結束，好熱！

雖說休假正式結束是七月底，然歸心似箭，七月初搭機回台。
到溫哥華機場搭機時氣溫16度，晚班飛機，登機時乘客無論男女老少，大都穿了外套，我想到台灣的夏天，僅著了薄長袖襯衫。抵達桃園機場前，機長報告地面溫度29度。出了機場，陽光耀眼，雖是早晨，迎面已是一陣熱氣，車上聽廣播，32度。
回來後三天，氣象預報都是悶熱、紫外線強，要大家多補充水分。離開台北南下探望父母，高雄是海洋城市，雖有海風吹拂，但高溫依然，走在柏油路上彷彿週身飄著熱流，小走一段，就揮汗如雨。位於亞熱帶的台灣，夏天原本就高溫，我自小生於斯長於斯，焉有不知之理？可感覺今年特別熱，甚或可說是酷熱。
炎夏季節，腦中常浮起溪頭的森林或玉山的高海拔畫面，假設自己置身於山林小徑；要不就想大火爐「重慶」，或印度的德里，夏天動輒四十度的城市，相形之下，台灣的35,36度，「比上不足，比下有餘」。我一向怕熱不怕冷，有年寒流來襲時，好友看到我兩的穿著，忙說我們的溫度差異至少五度。也因自己怕熱，常提醒自己「心靜自然涼」，有了修為就不致心浮氣躁，不覺得熱。
高溫除了對農作物影響，對店家也是「幾家歡樂幾家愁」，火鍋店生意自然不如冰品冷飲店，而冷氣強強吹的速食店、百貨公司等，會吸引避暑的人潮。七月底有回到台大誠品找書，待不到五分鐘，因為連走道都有人坐很難走，有位小姐不僅看書，還邊做筆記，看來是把書店當圖書館了。另外，網咖生意大概也不錯，熱天的宅男宅女人數恐也增加，想到之前流傳著氣溫超過三十多度就不出操的新聞，熱天戶外活動的人少，人們寧願在網路世界遨遊也不難理解了。
有朋友問：「幹嘛這時回來，不會等九月開學前？」早點回來，除了思鄉，還想做「收心操」為新學年準備；可天氣熱，使得工作效率大不如預期。
天氣怎麼變得這麼熱？多謝 Al Gore的紀錄片「不願面對的真相」的教導，這是地球的溫室效應global warming。溫室效應、聖嬰、反聖嬰現象，搞得北極冰山融化、海洋溫度升高、各地或豪雨或乾旱，氣候大變，莫拉克颱風的怪異走向就是一例。
莫拉克肆虐、八八水災後，我的美國朋友忙寫email問台灣的情形。我說此次災區主要在南部，全國上下忙著賑災，台北風災輕微，但氣候炎熱。朋友回信說今年她那兒(美國中西部)夏天出奇涼爽，日溫大都不超過20度，以往每年會有幾天溫度可達31, 32度，今年居然都沒有。
「人定勝天」是神話，人哪勝得了天？人與自然應和平共存，如果不愛護地球、不環保，大自然會反撲，且力道驚人，人們得嘗竭澤而魚、過度開發的惡果呢！
溽暑中還是有欣慰的事。返台次日即到傳科所，趙所長氣色佳、精神好；佳玲親切、熱誠如昔；老朋友新同事崔老師也在，神采奕奕；還看到碩三的同學，規劃了更紮實、豐富的暑期戰鬥營課程。過去的一年，傳科所在趙所長、諸位師長的帶領，同學的努力下，攜手走過，雖辛苦，但相對收穫也豐盈，正應了 ”no pain, no gain”這句話！
