教育界大師賈馥茗老師今天上午八時三十五分病逝於台大醫院安寧病房。
昨晨十時許，在訪評學系聆聽系主任說明釐清問題時，手機鈴聲幾次輕揚，雖已調為震動，但仍有聲響。說明結束立即聽留言，內容為賈師送台大急診；趕緊去電，這才知照顧賈師的nancy，半夜發覺賈師呼吸不順又發燒，聯絡方師母後送台大急診室，留言前黃昆輝老師來過。聽來情況緊急，可我人在評鑑，正感為難時，同組的謝老師說趕快去醫院，其他委員會幫我cover 訪談同學。我三步併兩步，急急過隧道出校門，趕赴台大醫院。
老師在急診室重症病房，已經戴上氧氣了，邇來費神照顧老師的王先生正備齊證件，辦理老師入住安寧病房的手續。我戴上口罩，推門進重症病房，五南書局純聆總編在老師床搨，她要我跟老師說說話。講些什麼呢？我想到博三的「人格教育學」，上課是週四早上，聆聽老師講課是「大養」，下課回家路上常跟老師到稻香村午餐，那是「小養」，都是快樂時光。老師喜歡麵食，也愛吃那兒的茄子，每回必點蒸餃、小米粥、茄子小菜等，movable feast 流動的盛宴，才兩人吃，可每回都大打牙祭，點的菜多，我都塞到十二分飽。離開時，老師每回都再向服務人員致謝，並另給小費。而飽餐後，好像更有力氣爬樓梯上新生南路的天橋，再走回老師和平東路二段九十六巷的家（現龍門國中所在）。一路走來老師臉不紅氣不喘，精神抖擻，雖是十年前的往事，可情景仍歷歷在目；而看到老師瘦弱的臉龐，急促的呼吸，我講的速度不由得慢了下來，注意到老師眼角有些濕潤...
再抬頭時看到門外楊國賜校長、吳明清老師都來了；病房小，我忙出來，讓他們進去。再等一會，簡茂發校長也趕來了。
沒一會，辦妥入院手續，工作人員要將床推到六樓安寧病房。方師母拿著老師東西，一路招呼；走道上人多，推床時常會碰到，前後都得小心。電梯容納不下，我幫著拿提袋走樓梯到六樓。
六樓雙人房裡站滿了探望的人，護士說人太多了，可沒人移動。護士問誰照顧病人？病人家屬在哪？回答說老師單身，照顧的是朋友與學生，還有外勞nancy。護士接著問，病人如往生，要採何種宗教儀式？此時有人說，病人還有聽覺，在這討論不好，何不到外面說？護士回說病人有知的權利，這兒都是這樣進行的。我想老師一向豁達，死生有命，後事早有安排，這樣的討論老師會理解的。
護士也告訴大家目前單人房沒有空房間，還要等。然後要介紹這樓的設備給照顧者，方師母和逢祺出來，我也跟著聽。再回到病房，護士仍說太多人在房間。我知道護士想要讓病人休息，訪客在會打擾；可她不知這群學生對老師的感懷與孺慕之情，巴不得能多待一會！
我看了手錶，接近中午了，我得趕回去繼續評鑑。跟方師母說了聲，快步走出台大醫院，天空仍飄著雨，沒有停歇的跡象。
老師一生致誠行仁，走的無掛礙，不捨的是學生！回去的路上不禁想，看著老師被病魔纏身而受苦，離開反是解脫。
昨晚輾轉反側，睡的極不安穩。一早去電沒人接聽；十點才聯絡上，方知已經辭世。生命消長與起落，不意外，但從上週五方知老師病重趕去探望，看到孱弱的身軀，還是震驚。
也不過短短四天，怎麼走得那麼快？
快到我們措手不及！還有那麼多要請教的，要做的事...
哲人已遠，典型在夙昔！老師是對學術志業終身追求最好的實踐者，畢生功力迄晚年仍推陳出新，著作不輟；仍然在「解惑」，解登門門生的惑，還以一指神功打email，解不知名學子的惑。這是她對學子、對教育的大愛啊！老師形體雖離開，然精、氣、神永存世間！
